April 17th and 18th ORA, OSU Extension and OSU Small Farms hosted two workshops entitled “Exploring the Small Farm Business Dream” in La Grande and Ontario. About 32 landowners, curent and aspiring producers attended the workshop presented by Garry Stevenson of OSU Small Farms in Corvallis.

If you couldn’t make it, just click here to check out the handouts provided which help folks assess their soil, land, resources and markets to make good small farm plans. The OSU Small Farms program has lots of resources available on their website too:http://smallfarms.oregonstate.edu/.

ORA is looking to host the entire eight-week Growing Farms: Successful Whole Farm Management workshop in Eastern Oregon in 2014, but we need to know if you want it! Let us know if you would attend by contacting ORA at 541-975-2411 or nella@oregonrural.org.

Help Us with More Workshop Topics!

This workshop was one of the first small farms curricula available locally in Eastern Oregon, and it was made possible with funding from the Oregon Dept of Ag Specialty Crop Block Grant. This grant will help ORA bring in other workshops to Eastern Oregon. We’re working on marketing and food safety workshops to begin with. Let us know what technical assistance, workshops and networking you want by filling out our online survey.
