ORA Seeks Nominations for Board of Directors
If you’re interested in helping to build and grow an exciting nonprofit, we want to talk with you. ORA is a unique membership driven organization dedicated to strengthening democratic processes. We want to build the capacity of our communities to identify and take action on issues of importance to them. We strive to make rural Eastern Oregon economically and environmentally sustainable through our diverse campaigns, and our projects – the work we do on those issues.
Board members have a commitment to building resilient, sustainable and diverse Eastern Oregon communities. A background or interest in farming, ranching, food systems, renewable energy, healthcare, social justice or civic engagement is very useful. Nominees should be passionate about strengthening the health and wealth of their communities, and about building connections and capacity for rural eastern Oregonians.
We value diversity by race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, and occupation and what that brings to the issues and the work of ORA. We encourage all interested persons to nominate yourself or someone else you believe would be a valuable asset to ORA’s leadership. We are committed to providing training, and supporting the development of new leaders.
- Must be a current ORA member
- Willing and able to serve a one-year or two-year term
- Willing and able to attend monthly meetings (committees and/or full board meetings), in-person and/or by phone
- Email access and commitment to good communication
- Commitment to the goals and mission of ORA
Board Member Responsibilities
As a board member, you or the person you nominate will gain valuable experience. All boards of directors have to be responsible for their organization, including how the organization is managed and how solvent it is. ORA is a good place to acquire that knowledge. Here are the details about ORA Board Responsibilities.
