The ORA Blue Mountain Chapter meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 17th, from 5:30-7:00.  Things to be thinking about are issues you would like to see ORA focus on during the coming year and potential candidates for Secretary and Treasurer position (to be voted on in June).

The 2012 Annual Gathering will bring people together to for a Key Note on the economics of local food in Eastern Oregon by Ken Meter, updates on sustainable energy work and board member elections. In 2011 the Oregon Legislature clarified and changed rules making it legal to sell home-processed products including fresh and dried fruits and vegetables, grains, legumes and seeds, eggs and unadulterated honey as well as pickles, sauerkraut, preserves, jams, jellies and syrups under certain conditions. This presentation will answer questions about selling home-processed foods and foods made on-sight at Farmers Markets and other venues.

The Blue Mt Chapter (Union County) of Oregon Rural Action is every first Thursday of the month at 6PM. Please join us for this meeting! The chapter will go over updates including the Solarize Union County! project and work on some business together including planning for congressional recess meetings lawmakers. We will also evaluate the chapter's strength and discuss chapter development and leadership. The chapter will break into groups to work on four projects and campaigns: 1. Seed saving project planning, 2. Local energy guide development, 3. Backyard chickens campaign and 4. Gleaning Day planning.
