The goal of the ORA Farm to School task force is to connect schools and local producers with the objective of:
· Serving healthy meals in school cafeterias
· Improving student nutrition
· Providing agriculture, health, and nutrition education
· Supporting local and regional farmers
Several school districts in Union County have made progress towards accomplishing this goal. The La Grande School District faces some challenges that are unique within the county and the Farm to School Task Force will be meeting to discuss what strategies will work here. Anyone who is interested is invited to attend.
The meeting will take place on July 26th at 3:30 at the Oregon Rural Action office, on the second floor of White House Coffee.
