Northwest Sustainable Energy for Economic Development (Northwest SEED) and partners will host a wind workshop this spring for landowners interested in wind development.  The workshops are designed to educate and inform landowners on the development of wind on all scales. Similar workshops have been conducted over the past two years meeting with sell-out crowds. Northwest SEED is pleased to be able to offer another opportunity to attend this workshop.

Workshops are being sponsored by the Energy Trust of Oregon.  “For people with a good wind resource, a wind project can be a revenue generator,” said Erin Johnston, Energy Trust’s Small Wind Program Manager.  “The workshop is a great opportunity to learn about what it takes to make a project happen and what resources – both financial and technical – are available to help a landowner.”

Workshop attendees will come away with the knowledge and tools they need to ensure wind developments, large and small, result in the greatest local benefit. The workshops will include an introduction to modern wind technology, the various scales of wind development, and incentives and policies affecting wind energy projects.

“Our goal is to empower communities with the knowledge necessary to participate in wind energy projects that result in the greatest economic and environmental benefits for the landowner, the developer and the local community,” said Jennifer Grove, Executive Director of Northwest SEED.

The workshops will also provide landowners with the opportunity to speak directly with members of several agencies and organizations intimately involved with wind development in Oregon such as the Oregon Department of Energy, USDA Oregon Rural Development, attorneys representing landowners and others.

All workshops are open to the public with a registration fee of $35. Exhibitor options are also available.  For additional information and to register please go to www.nwseed.org or contact info@nwseed.org, 1.866.759.SEED.  Space is limited; please register at least two weeks prior to scheduled workshop.
