Eastern Oregon Local Foods Gathering
Attention farmers, gardeners, retailers, and concerned citizens! Oregon Rural Action and the Oregon Food Bank are inviting everyone interested in building a robust local market for local agricultural products and ensuring that everyone has access to a sufficient amount of nutritious food to our April 13th Community Food Systems Gathering. The event is free, open to the public, and (best of all) includes lunch!!
Road Closure Approved!
In a unanimous decision Wednesday evening, the La Grande City Council approved our request to get the road closed between the public library and Max Square during Saturday market hours.

New Opportunity for Farmers: Oregon WIC Fruit and Veggie Voucher Program
Starting in 2010, farmers who sell their fruits and vegetables directly to consumers at farm stands or at farmers’ markets may sign up to participate in the existing Farm Direct Nutrition Program (FDNP) and/or a NEW program called the WIC Fruit & Veggie Voucher Program. The trainings for farmers in Eastern Oregon have been scheduled.

2010 Music at the Market Announced
The schedule has been announced for the “Kneads Bakery Presents Music at the Market” concert series to be presented throughout the La Grande Farmers' Market 2010 season. Leah Starr, owner of Kneads Bakery, coordinates the music series by bringing together local bands and community sponsors. “We look forward to another great season of music and food in downtown La Grande,” Star said. “The local musicians add a local flavor to this regular community event.”
Oregon WIC Fruit & Veggie Voucher Program

To Market We Go: An Interview with Manager Beth Wasley
In the chilly evening air of the end of summer, Oregon Rural Action Communications Director Shaun Daniel sat down with Beth Wasley, the La Grande Farmers Market manager, to talk about her work with the market, this past season and what's in store for visitors to the last market days of the year.
2011 Annual Meeting
Calling all vendors; our annual meeting date is set for Tuesday, March 1st at 6:00. Vendors may sign up for season stall spaces, learn about any changes to the policy this year, and talk to the board about any questions, suggestions or issues. If you are interested in becoming a vendor at the Farmers' Market, this meeting is a great opportunity to get your questions answered and to meet other vendors. The meeting will be a potluck and held in the Misener Room at 1001 4th Street in La Grande.
'Music at the Market' CD is available
Leah Starr, owner of Kneads Bakery, worked with participating musicians to produce a CD containing a sampler of songs performed at the La Grande Farmers Market.

2011 La Grande Farmers' Market season ending Saturday!
The La Grande Farmers Market' has had another great year, but soon the markets will close for season. Both the Tuesday and the Saturday Markets run though the third week in October. Our last day is October 22nd.

The farmers market has always been a pleasurable and nurturing event, its a great way to start a weekend. I am impressed that there is a sustaining growth to this venture. Congratulations on your expansion to Fourth St.
