LG City Council to allow 4th Street closure
The La Grande City Council voted unanimously last night to approve the closure for La Grande Farmers' Markets held on Saturdays.
4th Street between Adams Avenue and the alley next to Mamacita’s Restaurant in downtown La Grande will be closed on Saturday’s during the La Grande Farmers Market. The La Grande City Council voted unanimously last night to approve the closure. Beth Wasley, who heads the Farmers Market this year, told the council that closing the street would make the Farmers Market safer for vendors and customers, and it will allow the market to expand. Organizers anticipate placing booths in the street. Economic Development Director Charlie Mitchell says 100% of the area businesses signed off on the closure as well. The street will be closed from 7 AM to 1 PM starting from May 22 through October 23rd. The Farmers Market will be open from 9 AM to noon.
