You can help support a healthy local food system?
What can you do to support a healthy local food system?
- Shop at your local farmers’ market - Baker City, Cove, La Grande, Enterprise & Joseph, Hermiston and Pendleton
- Look for locally grown products at the grocery store - request them if they are not available.
- Purchase locally grown beef, chicken,eggs, pork and lamb from people in Northeast Oregon
- Eat at restaurants that serve locally grown foods - Ask or check the menu.
- Grow your own veggies at home or in Community garden
- “Plant a Row for the Hungry” and donate to your local food bank.
- Join a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)
- Buy a share and receive fresh produce throughout the season!
- If there isn't a CSA in your community, help start one.
- Educate yourself and your kids about where your food comes from - Take advantage of opportunities to visit local farms.
- Support organizations that work to strengthen our local food supply.
