Community garden begins to take shape

Lisa Britton writes for the Baker City Herald on the initial workday in the new Baker City Community Garden. The project is a collaboration between the Baker County Fair Board, Oregon Rural Action, and members of the Master Gardener's program.

The purpose of the garden is to offer local community members a space to grow their own food. "Gardeners will also get an education on amending soil and growing vegetables, thanks to the Master Gardeners," she writes.

Plots are still available for this season and another work party will be happening on Wednesday, May 19 at 5:30pm to work up the soil for each plot.
