ODA: Cost share reimbursement for certified organic growers

The Oregon Department of Agriculture is offering reimbursement for some of the costs to become organically certified by a USDA accredited certifier.

In mid October of last year, the Oregon Department of Agriculture put out a press release stating that it would help cover some of the costs incurred in getting or renewing organic certification. While that announcement may not have had a widespread impact on the news cycle, it does stand to have a widespread impact for current or aspiring organic producers in Oregon.

The cost share program was enabled by the Farm Bill, in which ODA was awarded $202, 500 in reimbursement funds which are available to an estimated 350 to 400 certified organic growers on a first come, first serve basis.

Those interested should contact ODA's Agricultural Development and Marketing Division (ADMD) in Portland at (503) 872-6600.
