Hats off to Margret Craig, Head Cook for the Imbler School District. After the March 5th workshop Margaret began purchasing several items from local producers she met during the workshop including eggs, beets, and potatoes from Vals Veggies. Turns out kids love beets! And who wouldn't love a bright purple vegetable?

Imbler Panthers like local beets!

If you would like to follow Margret's lead and purchase some delicious beets grown outside of Medical Springs check out Vals Veggies' website at www.valsveggies.com.

Thank you Margret for making the decision to purchase more products from local producers.  When schools or individuals purchase from local producers, not only are they helping a family farmer stay in business, but more of the money  they spend stays here and recirculates in this community!  They are also helping prevent burning all of the fossil fuel that is necessary to ship products across the country or around the globe.

If you are an Imbler student, or have children in the Imbler district please take a few moments and thank Margret for serving fresh healthy food and supporting local farmers!

I came across your update on Imbler's "Ferm to School" efforts. Kuddos to Margaret Craig for purchasing from local vendors and offering 'new' items on the school menu. I LOVE beets too - the simplier, the better. My favorite preparation is oven roasted with salt and pepper.
