WHO WE ARE
Oregon Rural Action (ORA) is a 501(c)3 grassroots organization led by diverse people and communities in Eastern Oregon. Through community organizing, public conversations, and public policy, we are working to advance the well-being of our communities and the environment
Our Mission
We are rural communities working together to promote social and environmental justice, agricultural and economic sustainability and stewardship of the region's land, air, and water.
Our Vision
We envision the responsible and sustainable use of our natural resources and agricultural lands, a region of social livability and equity, thriving and diverse local economies, and opportunity for present and future generations.
Our Values
Democracy — We believe that decision making should adhere to democratic principles, both in our organization and our government.
Justice — If democracy is to flourish, it is both the right and responsibility of people to participate in the decisions that affect their lives. All people should have access to the public decision-making processes, regardless of race, income and wealth, language, age, or ability.
Diversity and Equity — If we are to be a truly democratic society, our decision-making bodies must reflect the diversity of our communities.
Leadership Development — We are committed to develop the skills necessary to organize successfully, centering community interest and expertise in decision making.
Stewardship — We have the responsibility to ensure our natural resources are used sustainably so that future generations will have a plentiful and healthy environment.
